Dear Parish Friends
June and I are now back from our trip out to see the dinosaurs in central Queensland. I thank Rev'd Denis and the wardens for all that they have done over the last few weeks in the parish. I also gather that the parish stall at Annerley JunctionFest went well and also raised over $800 - thanks to all who participated.
This Sunday is our patronal festival, the feast of St Luke, and so we will have a single service for the whole of the parish at 9am. This will include Children’s Church and will be streamed over Zoom. The service sheet for this service and the week's Notice Paper are available via the links below. This will then be followed by a special morning tea to mark the end of our 100th year celebrations (and there will be a cake!). Please bring something to share if you are able.
A patronal festival (or birthday) of a church is a chance to reflect on who we are as a parish. Next week (Sunday 26th October) we will do this together over a 'Growing our Church breakfast' at 8am between the two services (so all can come), but this week we ought to reflect on what it is about St Luke that can inspire us. Luke wrote over a quarter of the New Testament and gives us an insight into the character of Jesus and of the early church. From Luke's writings we can see that he wanted the door of God's Kingdom to be open to all, and that he saw hope for everyone in God's mercy - a good message for a church dedicated to his name.
Yours in Christ
Rev'd Timothy
