Dear Parish Friends
This weekend we have finally got to our big celebration service to mark our 100th anniversary year and the (near) completion of the redevelopment. The builders have been very busy this week and they are very close to completion. It will still be a little while longer until we get the building certification and can use our new spaces, but there will be tours of the new facilities available on Sunday afternoon, and we will be able to use the new church deck for refreshments after the service.
This service starts at 3pm and the preacher is Archbishop Jeremy Greaves. The service will also be streamed over Zoom at our usual link. The car park will be open, but it would be appreciated if parishioners could still park in the streets so as to leave space for our guests. There will be a drop-off zone inside the car park. Contributions of food for the afternoon tea should be brought to church in the morning.
We will have a Eucharist in the morning at 9am, but no 7am service. This will include Children's Church and will be Zoomed as usual. The service sheet for the 9am service and the week's Notice Paper are available via the links below.
Our gospel passage for this Sunday gives us some wise advice. It is the story of Jesus visiting the sisters Mary and Martha in Bethany. Martha is busily providing hospitality, whilst Mary sits at Jesus' feet, to the chagrin of Martha. I feel that in the last few weeks we have all been a bit like Martha, with all the rushing around (and thanks are owed to so many for all that you have done), but we need to be reminded, as was Martha, of the purpose of all that we are doing. May the gospel of Jesus be preached in word and action!
Yours in Christ
Rev'd Timothy
