Weekly Letter from St Luke's - 25 December 2020
Dear Parish Friends
Wishing you a very blessed Christmas from all at St Luke’s.
If you were unable to join us at our services last night or today, the 9am service this morning was recorded and is available at http://notes.stlukesekibin.org.au/sundays/201225-christmas.
Note that next Sunday there will only be a single service at 8am. The notice paper for the weekend is available on our website at https://www.stlukesekibin.org.au/notice-paper
The following week the regular weekday Evening Prayer services are suspended, but on Thursday 31st December there will be a service of prayer and praise, reflecting on the year past and our hopes for the year ahead. 6pm on Zoom.
Christmas is not just one day, but the truth of Immanuel, God with us, is in our hearts always and calls us to action, as this prayer of Howard Thurman reminds us:
When the song of the angels is stilled, when the star in the sky is gone, when the kings and princes are home, when the shepherds are back with the flocks, then the work of Christmas begins: To find the lost, to heal those broken in spirit, to feed the hungry, to release the oppressed, to rebuild the nations, to bring peace among all peoples, to make a little music with the heart. And to radiate the Light of Christ, every day, in every way, in all that we do and in all that we say. Then the work of Christmas begins.
Yours in Christ
Rev’d Timothy
