Dear Parish Friends

This Sunday is Trinity Sunday when the focus is on the doctrine of the Trinity, the unique Christian understanding of God as the three-in-one, as is put in the collect (special prayer) for Trinity Sunday from the 1662 Book of Common Prayer:

Almighty and everlasting God, who hast given unto us thy servants grace, by the confession of a true faith to acknowledge the glory of the eternal Trinity, and in the power of the Divine Majesty to worship the Unity: We beseech thee, that thou wouldest keep us stedfast in this faith, and evermore defend us from all adversities, who livest and reignest, one God, world without end. Amen.

Much debate, and ink, has been expounded over the centuries to grapple with how God as Father, Son and Spirit, but one God not three, works. Perhaps though what is best is to instead consider what this means, how this affects our relationship with God. The New Testament writers did not explicitly have the concept of 'Trinity', but they did write of how we experience God as creator, of Jesus as teacher and saviour, and of the Holy Spirit as God's presence within us, and of how that makes a differnce to us.

The usual services are at 7am and 9am (also on Zoom). Children's Church continues for term two during the 9am service. The service sheet for the 9am service and the week's Notice Paper are available via the links below.

The June edition of Church News has been published on our website. Read it here. Printed copies will be available in church this weekend.

Please note that the planning meeting for returning items to the church site and the afternoon tea for neighbours which were shown on the calendar as happening on Saturday have been cancelled as the builders are not ready for us to take control of the new build, An updated schedule will be publicised as soon as we have more news. The Memorial Garden remains inaccessible until the landscaping of the site is completed.

Yours in Christ

Rev'd Timothy
