Weekly letter from St Luke's - 16 October 2026

This Sunday we celebrate St Luke, after which our church is named. From the New testament we know that he was a companion of Paul on his missionary journeys (he is mentioned three times in Paul's letters). In one place Paul describes Luke as 'the beloved physician'. His name is associated with the third gospel and the book of Acts which tell of the mission of Jesus and of the early church, so this was clearly a matter of great worth to him. In our 102nd year, which starts this weekend, we are reminded that this too is our mission, to tell of the grace of God.

Our morning services are as usual at 7am and 9am. Children's Church for term 4 starts during the 9am service, and this service will also be streamed over Zoom as usual. The week's notice paper and 9am service sheet are available under "Latest News" in the menu.

Then, at 6pm, there will be a service of Choral Evensong. Our preacher will be Bishop John Roundhill. Do invite everyone to join us for this. It would be great if you are able to bring something to share for supper after the service.

With blessings,

Rev'd Timothy
