Weekly letter from St Luke's - 18 September 2026
Both our Old Testament reading from Exodus and our gospel reading from Matthew highlight God's provision, but in a way that reminds us that God's way is not always what we might expect. The Hebrew people, after crossing the Red Sea are hungry and yearn to be back in Egypt. God replies by giving them Manna, which they, at first are unsure about (indeed Manna means 'what is this?'). In the gospel parable, the apparent unfairness of giving all the vineyard workers the same wage regardless of how many hours they had worked, is set in the context of God's absolute generosity.
Our services this Sunday are at the usual times of 7am and 9am, the latter with Zoom streaming. Children's Church is in recess for the School holidays, but children are always welcome and there will be a children's message in eh 9am service. The week's notice paper and 9am service sheet are available under "This week" on the menu.
With blessings,
Rev'd Timothy
