Dear Parish Friends
After our patronal festival last week, this weekend we look forward to growing our church in its 102nd year. Yes, it is our desire to see more people come to follow Jesus, but, as the particular way in which we play out our mission is through St Luke's Ekibin, we need to focus on what that means. We need to seek ways in which we can offer an inclusive welcome, ways in which we can engender spiritual growth in young and old, and also ways to enable the place to work in terms of our offerings of our time and money. Between the two services on Sunday, at 8am, we will have a parish breakfast to explore these issues.Stay after the 7am service, or come early for the 9am!
Our gospel passage for the week (Luke 18:15-30) provides us with some input to this discussion. In the first part of the passage Jesus welcomes even the little children. Then, in answer to a question about what does one need to do to inherit eternal life, Jesus tells us that following God is not something that is abstract and difficult to fulfil, rather it is a gift of God, and should lead to practical responses.
As always, the notice paper and the 9am service sheet are available via the links below. Our 9am service includes Children's Church and will be streamed on Zoom.
Yours in Christ
Rev'd Timothy
