Dear Parish Friends
Pentecost marks fifty days from Easter (the name gives it away!), It was first a Jewish festival marking the beginning of the early wheat harvest, fifty after the Feast of Firstfruits, the start of the early barley harvest, which comes a couple of days after Passover. It was a day of much celebration, and so Jews from all over the diaspora would come to Jerusalem to celebrate the goodness of God. It was on this day that the gift of the Holy Spirit, promised by Jesus before his death and resurrection, was received. Peter, inspired by this Spirit, preached to the gathered crowds, the church was born and grew exponentially.
The usual services are at 7am and 9am (also on Zoom). Children's Church continues for term two during the 9am service, when we also welcome Ruby, Adeline, Peter and Adam Edwards for baptism. The service sheet for the 9am service and the week's Notice Paper are available via the links below.
Thanks to all who helped prepare the Memorial Garden for the service last Sunday, and to those who joined us for the service, Please note that there is currently no public access to the Memorial Gardenwhilst the building and landscape teams work to complete our redevelopment project. This is expected by the end of June.
The June edition of Church News has been published on our website. Read it here. Printed copies will be available next weekend.
Yours in Christ
Rev'd Timothy
