Weekly letter from St Luke's - 15 May 2026

Last Thursday was Ascension Day which, in the church calendar is as important as Christmas, Easter or Pentecost (indeed in many European and African countries it is a public holiday). We find this account at both the end of the gospel of Luke, and the beginning of the book of Acts (thought to be by the same author). Hence the Ascension marks the end of the earthly ministry of Jesus, and the beginning of the work of the church, as Jesus leaves his disciples in order to send the Holy Spirit.

Our services are at the usual times on Sunday of 7am and 9am. The 9am service will be streamed over Zoom and include Children's Church. As usual the week's notice paper and 9am service sheet are available via the links below.

Don't forget to come and support our Art Show, and bring your friends! The art looks spectacular, and many are for sale. The show is open from 10am to 9pm on Saturday (with an evening reception and prize-giving from 5pm), and then open again on Sunday from 9am to 3pm. On Saturday there will be a sausage sizzle and cafe over an extended lunchtime and a wine and canapes in the evening. We will also be able to enjoy the art over morning tea after the services on Sunday.

With blessings

Rev'd Timothy
