Weekly Letter from St Luke's -1 April 2022
Dear Parish Friends
First, a reminder that tomorrow (Saturday) morning at 10am we will be holding a Parish Meeting where the architects will present updated plans for our redevelopment. Now our Development Application has been approved by Brisbane City Council, we have been proceeding with detailed designs. A representative of the Anglican Schools Commission will also discuss the ways in which the new early learning centre and the parish will develop synergies. There will be an opportunity to ask questions, and the meeting will end by 11am.
As this is the first weekend of the month, there will be an online service of Prayer and Praise at 6pm on Saturday and then Sunday services are at the usual times of 7am and 9am, with the 9am service streamed over Zoom. The week's notice paper, service sheet for the 9am service and Zoom instructions are available via the links below.
Our theme this weekend is 'fragrance'. As we reflect on the gospel passage where Mary anoints Jesus with costly perfume, we ask ourselves what our mission 'smells like'. St Paul says: "thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumphal procession, and through us spreads in every place the fragrance that comes from knowing him." (2 Corinthians 2:14).
Finally, I pass on the news that Sandra Johnson's mother, Rosemary Jane Beach, died on Wednesday aged 84. Her funeral is next Thursday at St John's Wishart. Please give thanks for Rosemary's life and pray for the family that they may be held close in Christ's love at this time.
Yours in Christ
Rev'd Timothy
