Weekly letter from St Luke's - 24 April 2026

June and I are back in Brisbane and looking forward to catching up with many of you at the Music Bingo this evening or on Sunday morning.

A reminder that our services are at the usual times on Sunday. At the 7am service we will remember ANZAC Day and at the 9am service (also streamed on Zoom) we will focus on the readings for the 4th Sunday of Easter  which have the theme "Jesus the Good Shepherd". Children's church for term two starts this week. As usual the week's notice paper and 9am service sheet are available via the links below.

After both of the services we will have a special morning "Tea for Tomorrow." This is our participation in a diocesan campaign to raise much needed funds for Anglicare's Youth Homelessness Accommodation project. Please bring a little something edible to share and something financial for Anglicare.

The metaphor of a good shepherd stretches back to the Hebrew Scriptures as an way of illustrating God's care for God's people (think of Psalm 23). In the gospels, when Jesus says he is the Good Shepherd he is therefore explicitly claiming that he is God, and therefore one whom we worship and who has concern for us and our world,

With blessings

Rev'd Timothy
