Lent is drawing to a close, and as it does, our journey through the story of God's salvation plans come to a head. From the origin stories of Genesis 2, through the patriarch Abraham, the great leaders Moses and David, and Ezekiel's visions of a hopeful, God-breathed future we have seen how, despite the world being a messed up place (as it continues to be), God's promises are true. Next week we will follow the steps to the high point of the story, the death and resurrection of Jesus. And we know that the story continues. I am reminded of the words of the hymn by the Australian writer Elizabeth J Smith:
God gives us a future
Daring us to go
Into dreams and dangers
On a path unknown
We will face tomorrow
In the Spirit's power
We will let God change us
For new life starts now
Our services on Sunday are at 7am (including Palm Procession and the reading of the passion narrative from Matthew), and 9am (which is a special 'fifth Sunday of the month' intergenerational service which will focus on the Palm Sunday story with activities for all ages).
Then on Sunday evening we join together with other local churches at The Rock (406 Ipswich Road, Annerley) for an ecumenical service. Our choir will be singing at this service and the preacher is Ps Neil Pattermore from Fairfield Christian Family Baptist Church.
With blessings,
Rev'd Timothy
