Weekly letter from St Luke's - 6th March 2025
Dear Parish Friends I am sending this email early this week in case the power and internet goes. As we prepare for Cyclone Alfred, I reflect on the readings for Sunday which recount both Jesus' and the Israelite’s time after the Exodus in the wilderness. Two important messages from both these is that God was with them during the trials, and that their wilderness experiences were time-limited. We don't know how the next few days will pan out, but God willing we will be able to gather on Sunday.. The weekly notice paper and 9am service sheet are available from the links below. However, things might change. I hope to be at Church and we will worship together in whatever manner we can and with whoever comes. Please take care of yourselves and your families first. Meanwhile, I trust that you have (or are completing) your preparations for the storm. Stay safe, listen to the official messaging, and know that you are loved. The Archbishop has shared a prayer for this time: Almighty and eternal God, who sees us surrounded by so many dangers and challenges, grant in your infinite goodness your protection over us as we watch and wait to see the path of Tropical Cyclone Alfred. Give continued healing to those still suffering from past weather events, wisdom to those who lead our communities and respond to emergencies, and a spirit of generosity toward neighbour where sacrifice is needed. We ask this through Christ our Lord, who is our constant help and protector, now and forevermore. Amen Regards Rev'd Timothy |
