Over the next few weeks, we continue to celebrate the resurrection of Christ until we reach Ascension Day. As Rev'd Timothy is currently on leave, Rev'd Denis Galloway will be leading our worship this weekend. This week we return to our regular schedules of services. The 7:00am Communion service is back on as normal. Our Family Communion service is at 9am which will also be streamed over Zoom. We now come to the high point of the church's liturgical year. Today is Maundy Thursday and this evening there will be a service, including Holy Communion, at 7.30pm in church. Tomorrow is Good Friday. There will be a family service at 10am, where we will, in words and actions, remember the Holy Week story. Then at 2pm there will be a service of prayer and music as we reflect at the foot of the cross. Both these services will be in church, with the 2pm service also stream

Lent is drawing to a close, and as it does, our journey through the story of God's salvation plans come to a head. From the origin stories of Genesis 2, through the patriarch Abraham, the great leaders Moses and David, and Ezekiel's visions of a hopeful, God-breathed future we have seen how, despite the world being a messed up place (as it continues to be), God's promises are true. As our Lenten journey continues, both our Old testament and our Gospel reading give a foretaste of the message of Holy Week and Easter, that where there is death, God can breath life. Ezekiel is shown a vision of a valley of dry bones, a place of despondence, but a place into which God can bring hope. Mary and martha are comforted that Jesus can conquere death itsself and bring hope both in the fullnes of time, but in the present as well. Our services on Sunday are as usual

Continuing our Lenten journey we this week read of the anointing of David as King of Israel, who in may ways was a foreshadowing of Jesus as he turned expectations upside down. Of note in both these stories is that what happens on the journey is often as important as the destination.
