Weekly letter from St Luke's - 13th December 2024
Dear Parish Friends
This week, for the third Sunday of Advent, we continue to read the start of John the Baptist's message. He told those who came to hear the 'prophet in the wilderness', that God's promise to be with all God's people was imminent, and they needed to get ready, by both repenting, and also acting in ways that showed that they were truly in tune with God: being generous, sharing, working well and honestly and being above board with everyone. This is an Advent message for us all. Yes, we know the hope that we have in Christ Jesus as we look forward to his coming (again), but we need to exhibit this in our lives.
Our services on Sunday are the usual 7am Holy Communion and 9am Family Communion (with Zoom streaming). Children's Church is on holiday, but children are always welcome and there will be a children's message in the 9am service. See the links below for a copy of the week's notice paper and order of service for 9am.
Then don't forget our Carol Service at 6pm. Come early at 5pm for a sausage sizzle. Our guest at the service is Danie Mideldorp, the chaplain at Wellers Hill State School. This is an excellent opportunity to invite friends and family to sing carols and hear the Christmas message.
Regards
Rev'd Timothy
