Weekly letter from St Luke's - 18 August 2023

Dear Parish Friends We again thank Fr Denis for his ministry with us while Timothy and June are on leave. As mentioned at our services last week, on Tuesday, the Parish Council considered the proposed funding model for the St Luke's ELC redevelopment project that was approved by the Diocese FDSC recently. Parish Council passed a motion by majority that we will accept the revised funds distribution model for the project. Although this provides a reduced income from the initial projections, the income is still sufficient to cover expected costs. We have also requested that the Diocese Property Team provide all the updated budget, ASC modelling and drawings as soon as possible, so we can continue all the related planning within our parish. The project goes for final approval consideration by the Diocesan Council next week, and we will advise this decision when available. Please continue to pray for our parish, this project and each other as we look to the future, trusting God throughout. Brian has asked me to include an apology for poor sound at the 9am service last week. He is confident the problem has been fixed and all should be fine for this coming Sunday, including for those joining us on Zoom Other reminders - The next play from the St Luke's Theatre Society, Macbeth, opens THIS WEEK with performances from 25th August to 9th September on Friday and Saturday evenings and Saturday afternoon matinees. It's sure to be good. It's also time to pick up your pen or keyboard, to write your contribution for the next edition of Church News. Honor has requested articles by 1st September. Our services this weekend are 7am (Holy Communion) and 9am (family service with communion - also streamed on Zoom). The weekly notice paper and 9am service sheet are available via the links below. While Rev'd Timothy and June are away on annual leave, there will not be a Sunday afternoon parish email. This week's 'taking faith home' leaflet is available today via the link below. Yours in Christ Chris (on behalf of Rev'd Timothy)
