Weekly letter from St Luke's - 6 May 2022

Dear Parish Friends

This Sunday, the fourth Sunday of Easter, is often known as 'Good Shepherd Sunday', as the psalm set is Psalm 23 and the gospel reading from John, includes Jesus' promise: "My sheep hear my voice. I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish." Jesus is therefore drawing on the Old Testament image of God as the shepherd who watches over his people, but expanding the promise to ALL who hear his voice.

Our services on Sunday are as usual, 7am and 9am, with the 9am service also streamed on Zoom. Links to the notice paper and the 9am service sheet are below.

Remember that there is a meeting tomorrow morning (Saturday) at 9.30am for any who would like to be part of the discussions about the outside areas of our site in the redevelopment project. The architects and their landscape consultants have provided updated plans for our review. We will consider the parish lawn and surrounding planting, entrance boulevard (but not specifically the Memorial Garden), and the new church deck. All welcome.

On Sunday, between the services at 8.15am, the Acts 1:8 group will meet. All who are interested in our parish's support of the wider mission of the church are welcome.

Yours in Christ

Rev'd Timothy
