Weekly letter from St Luke's - 6 October 2023
Dear Parish Friends Our services this weekend are 7am (Holy Communion) and 9am (family service with communion - also streamed on Zoom). Children's Church also restarts this weekend at 9am on Sunday. The weekly notice paper and 9am service sheet are available via the links below. We welcome at both services, as our guest preacher, Dan Paterson, founder of Questioning Christianity, and a part-time consultant for the Mathew Hale Public Library. Our gospel for Sunday is another parable from Jesus in response to the temple leaders questioning his authority. The image is of the vineyard as God's world. But the tenants deny that the owner has any rights, or they have any obligations, and so act in a shameful way. The message of Jesus is that at the heart the universe is not impersonal, but created by the God who wants to be our God and we God's people. A late additional notice from David and Judy Moy: They took a delivery to Inala Pantry on Tuesday this week including cash donations of $500 from 6 Parish Families and a car boot full of non-perishables and 12 home-knitted soft face washers (very well-received to add to Self-care Packs for women in need) also delivered (estimated value greater than $150)! The next delivery will be early December for Christmas distribution. Yours in Christ Rev'd Timothy
