Weekly letter from St Luke's - 6th December 2024
Dear Parish Friends
The second Sunday of Advent, and our focus turns to being prepared for Christmas. This means more than what we think we need to celebrate on the day, but rather a reminder that this is a remembrance that Christ has come into the world and into our lives. Welcoming Jesus is more than a once-only event, but something that we need to do continually, and Advent is an annual reminder of this. Our readings include the start of the ministry of John the Baptist, who told the people that they needed to repent, change, and prepare for Jesus' coming.
Our services on Sunday are the usual 7am Holy Communion and a special service at 9am, which our children will help lead. This will include the baptism of River James Wilson and a celebration of Children's Church for 2024. The 9am service will also be streamed over Zoom, and there will be Children's Church. See the links below for a copy of the week's notice paper and order of service for 9am.
After the 9am service, you are all invited to Laura Street Park to continue the celebrations with Children's Church with food and games. Please let us know by emailing families@stlukesekibin.org.au for catering purposes.
The December edition of Church News has been published. You can read it on the web here, and printed versions will be available in church,
Here is the link to the Church of England online Advent Calendar that I mentioned last week in the notice paper.
Regards
Rev'd Timothy
