    Weekly letter from St Luke's - 29 January 2021

Dear Parish Friends I look forward to worshipping with you again this weekend for the fourth Sunday after Epiphany. The service sheet for 9am (which will be streamed over Zoom) and the notice paper for the week are attached. This Sunday also sees the start for the year of Children’s Church during the 9am service. We now have a team of volunteers to lead this which means that it will run EVERY WEEK during school terms, which is wonderful. Do let any families you know with chil

    Weekly Letter from St Luke's - 22 January 2021

Dear Parish Friends We will be meeting again for our Sunday services as usual this week at both 7am and 9am, for the Third Sunday after Epiphany. With the easing of the Coronavirus restrictions we are back to operating as we did a few weeks ago. The 9am service will be streamed as usual on Zoom. In the gospel we hear the call of the fishermen Simon and Andrew, for whom following Jesus seems straightforward. But we also read from the book of Jonah. This is a tale (if you forge

The 9am service will be streamed as usual on Zoom. The theme of the gospel reading this weekend is response to Jesus’ call to follow, and

Given the news that that Brisbane is in lock down for three days from 6pm Friday 8th January, we will not be able to meet together at St Luke’s for worship on Sunday 10th. But, as we did for several months last year we can meet virtually by Zoom. There will therefore be a service on Zoom at 9am on Sunday and you are all invited to join in. The service sheet is available here. I found this prayer, written by Bishop Rodolfo Valenzuela Núñez in Guatemala which I would encourage

    Weekly letter from St Luke's - 2nd January 2021

Dear Parish friends We are celebrating the feast of the Epiphany. I found this poem, by Godfrey Rust, a London poet. What would have happen if the wise men overshot Bethlehem and ended up in 21st century London? The journey of the magi (cont.) Coming as they did from the first century they had a few problems with London traffic and were seriously misled by signs to the Angel and King's Cross. Inquiring diligently about the star they were referred to Professor Brian Cox, who t
