Weekly letter from St Luke's - 16 June 2023

Dear Parish Friends After the excitement of the Day of Pentecost, Trinity Sunday and the feast of St Barnabas, this Sunday is 'only' the 3rd Sunday after Pentecost, the start of many Sundays after Pentecost running through to November! But 'only' is a misnomer. Every Sunday is a celebration of the Resurrection; every Sunday is when we gather together as the church infused with the Spirit of Pentecost; every Sunday we hear God's holy word, make our prayers, and share in the sacrament of the Holy Communion. Over the next few weeks the gospel passages look at what it means to be a part of all of this, starting with Jesus calling the disciples, with all their varying backgrounds, and giving them a mission. As usual, our services this weekend are 7am (Holy Communion) and 9am (Family service, with children's church and Zoom link). The weekly notice paper and 9am service sheet are available via the links below. A reminder that there is a meeting of the Acts 1:8 group, which discusses and promotes our parish's involvement in mission beyond our parish boundary, at 10.30am on Sunday. June and I went to see the St Luke's Theatre Society's second play of the season last week, and it was excellent! It continues to play this Friday/Saturday at Yeronga Church Hall. For details, and to book, see here. Yours in Christ Rev'd Timothy
