Weekly Letter from St Luke's - 12 March 2021

Dear Parish Friends

Attached is this weekend’s notice paper and the service sheet for the 9am service that will be streamed over Zoom. It is the fourth Sunday in Lent, also known as Mothering Sunday – I have written a little about this on page two of the Notice paper. We also welcome at Jai Lynch with his family for his baptism during the 9am service.

Our gospel reading contains one of the few verses that many of us can quote with chapter and verse. John 3:16 (“For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life”). For the ‘twitter’-age this might seem an apt summary of the Christian message in 131 characters, but whilst this is a good starting point, there is much more to the Christian life. Just as baptism is a starting point on a lifetime journey of faith, belief in Jesus is the staring point of growth into what it means to be a disciple.

Yours in Christ

Rev’d Timothy
