Weekly letter from St Luke's - 2 August 2024
Dear Parish Friends
In the gospel passage this week from John chapter 6, we continue the the theme of 'bread'. Following the story of the feeding of the 5,000, a comparison is drawn between the feeding of the Israelites after the Exodus with manna and the bread that Jesus brings. Both are seen as from heaven, but whilst Moses was one who passed on God's gift, Jesus says that he is the bread. Bread is necessary for living, and Jesus' 'I am' saying reminds us that it is in him that we have life,
Because many of our parish will be away on the parish Camp this weekend, there will not be a 7am service this Sunday. There will be a service at 9am, with Zoom streaming as usual. The service sheet and the week's Notice Paper are available via the links below.
Yours in Christ
Rev'd Timothy
