Weekly letter from St Luke's - 23 April 2021

Dear Parish Friends

This year ANZAC Day falls on a Sunday and so this week our readings and prayers at our service will be for ANZAC Day rather than for the fourth Sunday of Easter. Our preacher at both services is Rev’d Denis Galloway. The weekly notice paper and order of service for the 9am service which will also be streamed on Zoom as usual are attached.

As I comment though in the notice paper, the readings for the fourth Sunday of Easter, which I known as Good Shepherd Sunday are also very appropriate for ANZAC Day. In John 10:11 we read, ‘Jesus said: “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.”’ Jesus gives us a model for how we ought to treat and interact with each other.
