Weekly letter from St Luke's - 3 June 2022

Dear Parish Friends This weekend is a big weekend. Tomorrow (Saturday) we celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of He Majesty, Queen Elizabeth. Celebrations will start with a High Tea in the upper hall from 3.30pm. This will then be followed by a special service in church at 5pm. This will be streamed over Zoom (in place of the usual first-Saturday 6pm Zoom service). Then on Sunday we celebrate Pentecost, with services at 7am and 9am as usual. Children's ministry and Zoom streaming will be included at 9am. This is the third of the great festivals of the church, after Christmas and Easter, and we remember the gift of the Holy Spirit to the early church, empowering them, and us, for ministry. The Psalmist gets the message across: May the glory of the Lord endure for ever: may the Lord rejoice in his works. If he look upon the earth, it shall tremble: if he but touch the mountains, they shall smoke. I will sing to the Lord as long as I live: I will praise my God while I have any being. Finally, you will see from the Notice Paper that Raymond Dodd died last Monday. His funeral is on Monday, 2pm, at St Luke;s. Please keep Sylvia and the rest of Ray's family in your prayers at this time. Yours in Christ Rev'd Timothy
